Some believe that their civilization has remained stagnant in time, anchored in immutable traditions. But perhaps we are underestimating them.

An Aphotean artifact found stranded on a beach after a great storm in the open sea. It is an intricate sculpture, possibly a ceremonial idol of the eccentric Aphoteans of the six gill slits (Bluntnose sixgill shark - Hexanchus griseus).
The carved figure appears to be embracing an unusual-looking blue gem, which emits a soft, almost imperceptible hiss. But those who come close feel something else: a subtle vibration interfering with the ampullae of Lorenzini. Both the gem and the material of the sculpture are unknown.
